Shehu Garba speaks on how NTA/AIT frustrated Buhari during the 2015 presidential campaign

Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba has spoken about the frustration president Buhari experienced from media organizations, NTA and AIT during his presidential election campaign earlier this year. Speaking at The Red Media Summit in Lagos, today Oct. 15th, Garba said
“Americans say that elections are won on the dollar. It’s very improbable that anybody can win an election without money. We didn’t have advertising money on our campaign. Even when we had little money to spend on advertising, the Nigerian Television Authority was not making available to us slots, neither was AIT. I remember on a particular night I called NTA, they had 16 slots of one minute adverts and I said I wanted to buy one minute for the Buhari campaign, they said all 16 had been sold.
Some other instances that exposed the partisan nature of the NTA. Money was returned to us, from AIT money was returned to us. They simply won’t advertise for us.”he said
During his speech, Shehu Garba narrated how the prompt spread of news of social media helped him go through a military seige at his home during the campaign period
“The day there was a security siege at my home, I woke up to see that my house had been surrounded by armed policemen in the course of the campaign. In fact it was the cocking of their guns that rose me and my family members from our sleep. Only to discover that tens of policemen, police vehicles, and some other unidentified vehicles darkened our windows around my home. The first thing I did was to say ‘Who will help me out of this situation?’ I needed to expose what was going on, and the‎ first man I reached was Adebola Williams of Statecraft. Adebola began to announce on Facebook and Twitter from that moment until the security elements realized that the whole world was looking at what they were doing, because I remained indoors throughout the siege. Of course it was much later that we came to know why they had come. Even the APC Presidential Campaign was penetrated by fifth columnists, and I will make this confession, because a day before that siege we had had a meeting with the security committee at which we agreed that we were going to run a story announcing that the National Security Adviser at that time, Mr. Sambo Dasuki, was staging a second coup d’etat against Muhammadu Buhari. The former National Security Adviser was involved in a coup that threw out Muhammadu Buhari as military president in 1984. This time around, all the things that followed, the postponement of the election on account of this and that and a lot of the thinking of the campaign was that this was yet another coup being hatched by the National Security Adviser and we eventually discovered that this siege on our homes was to pre-empt the story.‎” he said

Horrifying Moment A Plane Falls Apart During Takeoff

THIS is the horrifying moment a plane's engine starts to fall apart on takeoff – as seen by terrified passengers.
Footage shot through the aircraft's window shows the jet's turbine as it starts to wobble alarmingly in the wind.
Moments later its outer casing starts to peel away, leaving the innards exposed just as the plane leaves the ground.
The stomach-churning scene unfolded as Sky Airlines flight 112 left Santiago, Chile, for CopiapĆ³ on Wednesday.
After becoming aware of the problem, the plane had to return to the runway at Santiago airport.
Posting on its Twitter account, the airline said the flight suffered "partial detachment of one piece covering an engine".
It went on to say the passengers were never at risk and that all 137 of them made their journey on another flight.
The incident comes just days after an easyJet flight made an emergency landing when its pilot blacked out, leaving his co-pilot in charge.
The flight from Gatwick to Crete stopped in Venice, Italy, last Friday and passengers had to board a replacement to continue their journey.

Sky Airlines is the second biggest in Chile and flies to Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Bolivia.

Robbers raid Imo Airport, escape with N20m

Suspected armed robbers  this morning raided a micro finance bank located in the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport, as well as the offices of Arik and Air Peace Airlines in Imo State.

Over N20m and other valuables were said to have been carted away in the robbery that lasted just a few minutes.

According to an eye witness, the armed robbers who besieged the airport in two unmarked vehicles, overpowered the security men attached to the bank.

The source who stated that the noise of banging of doors and windows by the robbers coupled with their gunshots scared people away from the scene.

An employee of Arik, who didn’t want to be named, said their offices were broken into, company and personal valuables of the workers were stolen.

He said, “We are still in shock how the robbers could have been able to operate freely without being challenged, with the number of security men at the Airport, calls for serious concern because if the Airport cannot be safe, where else can be.”

Meanwhile when contacted, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, who confirmed the incident, however, said it was a case of burglary.

According to him, “We got the report that some hoodlums broke into a Micro Finance Bank at the airport, but we did not get any report that they removed cash and no one was killed or wounded.

“Already investigation is ongoing and the the two security men attached to the bank are currently
being interrogated"
