Nephews Kidnap, Torture, Kill 63 Year Old Aunt Who Raised Them

THE people of Awara community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, Imo State are in still in shock, after learning from the police that two nephews of Mrs Ogo Omereji, a 63-year-old grandmother, masterminded her abduction and tortured her to death, after collecting ransom from the relations.

The whole community trooped out and wailed when a team from the Imo State Police Command visited the quiet rural community to exhume the body of the woman, who was buried in a shallow grave after she died in the custody of her abductors in the forest, where they kept her.

Omereji’s untimely journey to the great beyond began on September 26, 2015, when she was kidnapped in her farm, as the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Taiwo Lakanu, told Sunday Sun reporter in his office at the headquarters of the command in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The abduction was executed by two nephews of the victim, whose names were given as Emeka Chinedu, 27, and Peter Obido, 28, with the active participation of two accomplices, namely, 26-year-old Gift Emeka and Sunday Uchenna, who is 28 years old.

The evil four kept the woman in the forest for three months in the most tortuous and inhumane condition and demanded N2million ransom from the family. After much effort, the family could only raise N510,000, which they paid to the kidnappers. While the abductors were waiting for the balance of ransom, the woman died.

Recounting what transpired at that stage of the abduction saga, leader of the gang, Gift Emeka told Sunday Sun reporter: “We kidnapped the woman in her farm at Awara in Ohaji/Egbema, tortured her and took her to a forest and demanded N2 million from her relatives. The family paid ransom of N510,000.00. We held the woman for three months. After the relatives paid part of the money, we started waiting for the balance of the ransom. But after two weeks, the woman died in the forest,” he said.

Continuing the chilling tale, Sunday Uchenna, nephew of the woman, said: “She is our relative and we are all from the same Awara Community. Immediately after the victim died, we quickly looked for a shovel and dug a grave in the forest where we buried her corpse. We didn’t inform the family that the victim who was in our custody had died.

“When we waited for the balance of the ransom and we didn’t hear from them again, we shared the N510, 000 among ourselves and left the forest,” he said.
Meanwhile youths in the community had made spirited efforts to search for the woman in the forest without success.
Expressing the pain of the youths over the incident, the youth leader, Chukwudi Obi told Sunday Sun
reporter: “We tried to comb (search) everywhere to assist the family of Mrs. Omereji.”

If members of the gang thought that burying the woman was the end of the matter, they obviously did not factor in the fact that providence was watching. As the blood of the dead woman continued to cry for justice, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Imo State Police Command which had been activated by the Commissioner of Police, following a report lodged by the family, launched a diligent investigation and soon got a breakthrough, which led to arrest of the suspects.

With the pain of losing a dear mother very evident, one of her children (name withheld) said: “We were shocked when we heard that two of the four suspects arrested by the police happened to be our relations, Emeka Chinedu and Peter Obido.

It is still a mystery to us that our relations were part of the gang that kidnapped, tortured and murdered our mother. She was in their custody for good three months. After they kidnapped her, they demanded N2million ransom. We paid N510,000 to them but we didn’t hear from them again.

We thought she was missing for good. When the police arrested them, the gang took us, the police and the community to where they buried our mother,” he said.
After the decomposing body was exhumed, Lakanu said that it was released to the family for proper burial.

While the arrested suspects await trial in court, the youths in the community have risen in stout rejection of the evil four. Their leader, Obi declared: “We want justice to be done and we don’t want them to return back to Awara community again.”The police boss assured that the suspects would be arraigned in court soon to face trial.

A suspected member of a gang of ritual killers, Ganiyu Tajudeen (25), has been arrested by the operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, (FSARS), Osun State Command, after the killing and beheading of a four-year-old Bakare Teslim.

The killing was said to have occurred in Iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State recently.

The FSARS operatives have through the arrest curbed the activities of the gang which was said to have carried out series of murder of innocent residents of Osun State in recent times.

Saturday Tribune learnt that Tajudeen connived with other gang members whose names were given as Aremu Moshood (48), Agboola Abdulwasiu (31) and Ganiyu Abidoye (60) to lure the four-year-old Bakare Teslim away from his parents’ residence on the pretext of buying him groundnuts.
A police source told Saturday Tribune that the father of the victim, Mr Ismail Bakare of Agbelekale area of Iragbiji, disclosed to law enforcement agents that on getting home on the day of the incident, he was informed by an aged woman living in his neighbourhood that Tajudeen had come to take away his son to buy groundnut.

But to his surprise, when the little boy was nowhere to be seen afterwards, the response to his enquiries on the whereabouts of his son was negative, as he denied setting his eye on the boy.

The disappearance of the four-year-old led to the matter being reported at the office of the FSARS and through investigation, the suspect confessed to have taken the boy to an unknown destination with the sole aim of using him for money ritual.

Different ways you can make a fat belly to be a flat tummy

1   Reduce your portion sizes. Rather than eating the wrong kinds of foods, many people just eat too much of the right foods. You should eat just enough until you feel full, then stop. If you're eating regular, healthy snacks throughout the day, this shouldn't leave you feeling hungry. One good trick is to use smaller plates when you eat meals. That way, your plate will look like it's heaped with food, but you're actually eating less than you normally would. Also try to fill at least half the plate with vegetables. Try to chew more slowly and thoroughly when you eat. Chewing your food well helps to speed up the digestion process in the stomach, leaving you feeling less bloated and gassy. You should chew every bite until it reaches the consistency of applesauce. Take small breaks in between every bite of food when eating. The extra time will give your stomach a chance to realize that it's full, thus preventing you from over-eating.

Drinking plenty of water also helps in reducing weight. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. This will not only flush the fat, but also make your skin shiny and glowing. Your hair will become healthy, and the whole body will become radiant.

3  Eat small, frequent meals. Replace your usual system of eating three large meals a day, with eating smaller, more regular meals. Many people make the mistake of eating nothing at all between breakfast, lunch, and dinner, especially when they are trying to lose weight.
However, this type of diet will negatively effect blood sugar levels and cause you to eat more due to hunger, thus making it harder to lose weight. Having a small, healthy snack every three to four hours and not letting yourself go hungry is a much healthier and more effective system.

4  Do the crunches exercise. Nothing burns belly fat faster than crunches, which occupy the number one position in fat-burning exercises. Now, it’s time that you start performing this exercise. Here are the following steps on how to do it:
Lie down flat on a mat with your knees bent and feet on the ground.
Lift your hands and place them behind your head, or keep them crossed on your chest.
Inhale deeply, and as you lift your upper torso off the floor, exhale.
Inhale again as you get back down, and exhale as you come up.
Do this for 10 times as a beginner.
Repeat another two to three sets.

5  Don't starve yourself. Your results will only be temporary and you will feel frustrated sooner, which makes you much more likely to give up. While you might think that starvation is most effective, in essence it could do permanent harm to your body as well as make it hard to keep off the weight.

6  Avoid too much sugar intake. Sugar is the mortal enemy of a flat tummy. Sugar causes unnecessary spikes, crashes of your blood sugar levels and, when consumed in excess, gets stored as fat. If you crave sweets, keep fruits like blueberries, raspberries and strawberries accessible to pacify your sweet tooth.

7  Eat low-glycemic index foods. These items take longer to digest, so you feel full longer. Your body will slowly absorb the nutrients so you'll avoid any spikes or drops in your blood sugar until your next meal. Some of the best low-Glycemic foods are: Cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, dark leaf lettuce, onions, pears, tomatoes, watercress,  bananas, apples, and berries are all good foods to eat.

8  Increase vitamin C intake. Vitamin C, found in abundance in citrus fruits, broccoli, kale and bell peppers, can aid in keeping cortisol levels under control. Plus, vitamin C is essential in the production of carnitine, which the body uses to convert fat into energy.

The World's Oldest Man Aged 131 Discovered Living In Brazil with Wife 69 Years Younger

Civil servants in Brazil say they have discovered the world’s oldest man - a 131-year-old dad-of-three living with a wife 69 years his junior. The Guinness Book of Records recognises 112-year-old Yasutaro Koide from Japan as the oldest person alive.

And Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment, who died aged 122 in 1997, holds the record for the world’s longest living person.

Social security workers in Acre in the north of Brazil today caused furore by publishing photos of OAP Joao Coelho de Souza alongside a birth certificate dated March 10 1884.

The document showed he was born in the city of Meruoca in Ceara nearly 2,000 miles to the east of Acre.

The Mirror report authorities made a routine visit to confirm he was still alive and therefore eligible for his pension posted the information on his Facebook .

He called on the state government to confirm the find and register Joao for the Guinness Book of Records.
Brazilian papers today said he lived with a wife aged 62 and a granddaughter aged 16 in a village called Estirao do Alcantara, a 30-minute boat ride away from Sena Madureira, a municipality in the centre of the state of Acre.
His daughter Cirlene Souza, aged only 30 which would mean if his age was right that Joao was 101 when she was born, told one paper: “He has days when he is lucid but others when he doesn’t even recognise his children.

“He was very small when he came to work in Acre extracting rubber. “He has been with my mum for more than 40 years and depends on others for everything.”
Responding to doubts about her dad's age, she added:
“You hear everything, people that criticise and say it’s a lie and others that admire the fact someone can live so long.
“It’s sometimes offends me because everything is documented and the documents have already been examined by experts at to see if they’d been falsified and nothing abnormal was found.”
Cirlene said Joao suffered a stroke six years ago but continued to eat three times a day.
His favourite dishes are rice, fish and meat and the only thing he turns his nose up at is a local bean-based dish called feijao.
Kennedy Afonso is the social security worker who posted photos of Joao and his birth certificate taken by a colleague on his Facebook on January 11.
He said:

“I’ve asked one of his children if anyone’s interviewed him and to my astonishment no-one has yet. “The question ‘where are our historians’ immediately springs to mind. “According to a son he is still quite lucid and has a great story to tell.
“I present to you Jose Coelho de Souza, who came to Acre when he was 11.
“I appeal to the state government and the local government in Sena Madureira to determine with the competent bodies whether this is true so they can claim a place in the Guinness Book of Records for the oldest man on the Earth. And he’s from our region.”
