Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari at a meeting with Nigerians in South Africa outlined the objectives of his administration, stressing his commitment to ‘killing corruption’.
At the meeting held at the Consulate-General in Johannesburg on Monday, President Buhari reassured the Nigerian community of his administration’s commitment to making Nigeria better. He was in South Africa for the 25th African Union Summit, meeting of the Peace and Security Council accompanied by the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his Benue counterpart, Dr Samuel Ortom.
President Buhari decided to speak off the cuff, encouraging Nigerians to obey the laws of their host country and remain proudly Nigeria. He outlined efforts being made to eliminate Boko Haram as well as those aimed at making Nigeria better.
“Those of you who have the opportunity to come here and represent us, make sure that you are representing Nigeria, you are all ambassadors of Nigeria. This means a lot of patience, restraint and self-respect and pride. You must have all these.

“Government is determined to secure the country, manage the economy, create employment and fight corruption. Some articulate writers have said if we do not kill corruption in Nigeria, corruption will kill Nigeria. This APC administration intends to kill corruption in Nigeria. We will do our best, I assure you.”
Some Nigerians expressed hopes for increased bilateral relationship between Nigeria and South Africa.
Moreover, they told the President that they desired to be part of the change promised by the Buhari-led administration.
