Wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has died at the age of 61

 
 
 

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper has passed away at his home in Hollywood, California on July 31. The report revealed the wrestling legend died at the age of 61 due to cardiac arrest.
Rowdy, who was born Roderick George Toombs died in his home around noon on July 31. The wrestling legend is being said to have passed away in his sleep from cardiac arrest, according to TMZ. “I am devastated at this news,” Roddy’s rep said in a statement. “Rod was a good friend as well as a client and one of the most generous, sincere and authentic people I have ever known. This is a true loss to us all.” Although the 61-year-old was previously diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2006, a family source revealed Roddy was “cancer free” at the time of his death. Back in November 2014, the wrestler also announced that he was cancer free.
Roddy’s family also publicly made an announcement about his death. “Our family is saddened by the sudden passing of our father and beloved husband, Roderick Toombs aka Rowdy Roddy Piper,” a family member said. The WWE wrestler is survived by his wife Kitty Toomb and their four kids. He has three daughters and one son who is currently pursuing a career in professional wrestling.
